Team Trenton recently made history by capturing its second national Wiffle®Ball Championship in Ohio. Playing in Cincinnati Team Trenton went undefeated against an impressive 30-team field that featured squads from as far away as Washington and Florida. The finals were played at the VIP field, a which is a replica of Boston's Fenway Park. In it’s opener, Team Trenton beat the Wiffle® Wonders of Ohio, 6-5. Mike Palinczar and Dan Cryan bashed home runs. Palinczar also struck out 14.

Team Trenton then beat the Becktold Bombers from Chicago, 1-0, as Mike Soltesz cranked up a no-hitter, struck out 15 and scored the winning run on a walk in the second inning. Game 3 found Team Trenton over the Lakeside Kings of Illinois, 7-3, Fred Bastedo blasted a grand slam and Cryan got the win with a two-hitter and 16 strikeouts.

Team Trenton followed with a 12-3 win over Georgia’s Play Ball of Atlanta. Cryan smacked a triple and two doubles, while Palinczar handled the pitching. in the championship game, Team Trenton beat the Becktold bombers again, 11-0. Cryan got the decision with 13 strikeouts, Bastedo hit two grand slams and Soltesz had three hits. In the New Jersey Wiffle®Ball Association’s seventh annual tournament, a 44-team event that was played in Trenton, Lakeside Kings came in first. Happy Hour of Levittown, Pa., was second, followed by Brick Wall of Brick and Sakora’s Restaurant of New Brunswick.
